Summer is a time for eating out in the garden or on the patio. And what could be better than some delicious, and above all homemade, sauces to serve at all your barbecues ?
One blender, a few ingredients, endless possibilities!
Thanks to your trusty blender, anything is possible, and that’s especially true when it comes to making cocktail sauces. Before starting, check that none of your guests has any allergies particularly to eggs. Star of the show, of course, is the classic prawn-cocktail sauce, which is a mixture of homemade mayonnaise, ketchup, Worcestershire Sauce, a dash of brandy and a few drops of Tabasco.
Something a bit exotic always goes down well. How about some homemade guacamole, for example, that you can make in a flash by blending together ripe avocados, chopped tomatoes, lemon juice and a little chopped onion and seasoning to taste? Or mix some yogurt or fromage blanc with fresh chopped herbs and a dash of lemon juice to make a light, refreshing sauce that will be popular with both the kids and the grown-ups. And if you really want to wow your guests, then blend together coconut milk, lemon juice and either chickpeas, kidney beans or white haricot beans and serve with nachos for a veritable taste sensation!
Top tip: Make your sauces light and tasty by using different herbs and spices. And what about experimenting with different oils to make your homemade mayonnaise? Grapeseed or walnut oil, for example.
